Come enjoy an all-inclusive family retreat weekend at Pioneer Camp. Spend a summer weekend enjoying the scenic beauty of Muskoka on our 1200-acre property. The rental rate includes all meals, accommodation, access to recreational programming and waterfront. Choose from indoor lodging with en-suite washroom or outdoor chalet accommodation with your own family-designated washroom. Come relax, retreat and enjoy the outdoors with your family. Families registering for the Muskoka Family Getaway will pay one all-inclusive fee per person that includes accommodation, food and program activities. Program runs from Sunday to Friday.

Lodge

Bunk-style rooms with en-suite washroom for up to 6 people.

 

Chalet

Outdoor tabin (tent/cabin) that sleeps up to six people in bunk-style beds. It is camping in style with a solid floor and roof, and walls that roll up to enjoy the fresh air. There is no electricity in chalets. Each family renting chalet units will share washroom facilities.

More Information

 
Meals are a great place to talk and enjoy time together. The Dining Hall will be open during designated mealtimes, and food will be served cafeteria style. Outdoor tables are available for families for use also. Please return all dishes to the designated dish area, please do not take dishes into sleeping accommodations.

 

Menus will have well balanced options appropriate for all ages. Our Dining Hall will be open during mealtimes only for food and drinks. Please bring along any additional snacks/drinks that your family may need. Pioneer Camp will accommodate some dietary restrictions, as long as information is provided upon registration. This includes lactose/dairy free diets, gluten free diets, vegetarian, and some food allergies. In extreme cases, guests will need to provide their own food and snacks. Please contact camp office for details or to speak with kitchen manager/cook. Pioneer Camp Ontario cannot guarantee to be a nut/peanut free environment. We do seek to reduce the risk of exposure and therefore do not use or serve peanuts, peanut products or tree nuts on camp property. Nuts or products containing nuts will not be available in our Tuck Shop. However, the food we purchase may contain traces of nut products. We ask that you do not bring any kind of peanut or tree nut product to camp with you. There will be the option to purchase snacks (pop, chips, chocolate bars etc) from our Tuck Shop

Activities will be provided on a scheduled basis. All activities are optional and will be offered on an opt-in basis (sign up may be required), including the waterfront. Some activities will not be available every day, and some activities will have minimum age restrictions. There will be limited availability for lessons and guided excursions, more information will be provided upon arrival. All activities are for family units to enjoy together.

*Activity Equipment provided for you includes helmets, bikes, canoes, paddles, lifejackets etc. If you would like to bring your own equipment, please feel free to do so.

*If you are renting a chalet a bug net will be provided for each bed.

Family Getaway FAQs

 
Accommodations are restricted to family units. As directed by Public Health regulations, family unit means people who reside in the same household. We would love for you to experience camp with family and friends. Separate bookings and accommodations are required for those outside of your household.
Arrival and check-in are Sunday afternoons between 3:00 and 5:00pm. Check-out and departure are Friday afternoons between 2:00 and 3:00pm. In order to ensure our facilities are clean and ready for the next group of guests we ask that you do not arrive prior to check-in and that you leave during the check-out period. Due to the level of cleaning required, we will not be offering early arrival or late departure options.
We are a pet-free facility, please plan for your pets to be cared for while you are away. Registered support animals will be permitted, please contact the office prior to registration to talk through accommodation options.
All activities are for family units to enjoy together. If public health measures change in the upcoming months that will allow for more mixed group activities, we will communicate that as the information becomes available to us, including the possibility of separate children’s activities. At this time, parents are responsible for supervising and attending activities with their children.
Pioneer Camp is an alcohol, cannabis, and smoke-free facility. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Our Tuck Shop will be open regularly throughout the week, the times will be posted outside the Tuck Shop. The store sells drinks, chocolate bars, chips, candy, souvenirs, and some clothing. We accept cash, debit, and most major credit cards.
Camp is a great place to take a break from technology and screens. Limited internet access can be granted upon request. Camp internet does not have adequate bandwidth for streaming. Please be aware that in some areas of camp cell phone reception is not dependable.
Pioneer Camp can accommodate most guests with dietary restrictions including vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free. For other restrictions or diets, please contact us prior to booking. We are a nut free facility. Please keep this in mind when bringing outside food or drink.
Yes, all activities and meals are optional, and your family is free to enjoy Muskoka. No credits will be offered for missed meals or activities.
There are two local hospitals within a 20-minute drive to camp. Camp does not have nurses or doctors available while you are on site. Pioneer Staff who reside on site and will be available in an emergency, details will be provided upon arrival.
