At Pioneer Camp, we believe that all people are uniquely and wonderfully made in God’s image. Our award winning Special Needs Program was birthed out of our desire over 35 years ago to offer a fun, safe, and transformational camp experience to all young people.

Packing for Camp

Detailed information will be sent with confirmation of your camp registration.

This package will include camp specific drop-off and pick-up times and other important information that you will need for your child’s stay at camp.

This is a general packing list. If anything changes, you will be informed in your confirmation package following camp registration.

  • Long pants and shorts
  • Sweatshirt and sweater
  • Modest swim suits
  • Sleeping bag and pillow
  • Toiletries
  • Hat and sun screen
  • Raincoat and boots
  • Non-aerosol insect repellent (less than 10% DEET)
  • Long-sleeved shirt and T-shirts
  • Jacket
  • Pajamas and underwear
  • Towels
  • Flashlight
  • Bible
  • Running shoes and socks
  • Water bottle
  • Bug nets are available in the tuck shops for hanging over your child’s bed if you desire ($20)

Optional:

  • Camera
  • Fishing tackle
  • Fitted sheet
  • Life jacket

Please leave the following at home:

  • All electronic games, players, entertainment and communication devices (i.e. cell phones, iPods, iPads, etc.)
  • Knives
  • Valuables (i.e. Jewelry)
  • Alcoholic beverages or narcotics
  • other expensive or potentially harmful items

Please note that the use of tobacco, alcoholic beverages, or narcotics is prohibited and will be treated as a serious offense. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

Food Parcels:

  • No food is allowed in chalets because of the potential problem of attracting animals, so please do not send or bring large food parcels to camp.
  • No nuts or peanut products please due to the possibility of allergic reaction in others.

Please label all belongings. We have partnered with Mabel’s Labels, a company with all types of labels that are colourful, indestructible and fun! With a special “Camp Pack” available and also a larger “Big Combo,” your camper can label absolutely everything!

  • 20-30L dry bag (available for purchase at camp for approx. $24)
  • Sleeping bag (must fit in dry bag with clothes)
  • 1 sweatshirt (fleece is best as cotton sweatshirts take a long time to dry)
  • 1 pair closed-toed shoes
  • 1 extra pair of shoes or sandals (not flip flops)
  • 1 long sleeved shirt, 2 or 3 t-shirts
  • 1 pair long pants (fleece or quick-dry best)
  • 1-2 swimsuits
  • Socks and underwear
  • 1 small or quick-dry towel
  • Toothbrush
  • Rain jacket
  • Toque, mittens, long johns (optional)
  • Hat with brim
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Spray
  • Camera (waterproof optional)
  • Water bottle
  • Small flashlight
  • Pen and paper

Transportation To & From Camp

 

Find information on special round-trip transportation from the Toronto area.  We have bussing available from IKEA at Hwy 400 and 7 as well as from Pearson International Airport.
